Our Work
Information and Advocacy

The Refugee Information Service is a Free, Confidential and Independent Service offering an advocacy, information and referral service for asylum seekers, refugees, people with subsidiary protection, persons with permission to remain in the State and the wider migrant community.
The service provides 'outreach clinics' in Dublin and Galway. Currently the RIS operates six clinics in Dublin; two in Green St, one in Blanchardstown, Tallaght, Rathmines and Meath Street. The RIS also operates three clinics in Galway city. For details on our clinic times click here.
Advice and information is given on a range of immigration matters, including Family Reunification, Residence, Citizenship, the Asylum Process, Travel, Employment, Accommodation, English Language and Social Welfare. Clients who access the service do so in order to receive accurate and up-to-date information on their rights and entitlements. The information and advocacy officers have developed an expertise in navigating the immigration system. Over the past decade, the officers have been able to develop a working relationship with many aspects of the immigration system and are able to use the knowledge of the system for the benefit of the clients.
In addition to information work, RIS is committed to anyone who seeks their assistance. The advocacy officers approach each case with commitment. When appropriate, they will write on behalf of their clients to advocate certain aspects of the case. Using the contacts that are developed over years of working in this field the advocacy officers actively look to create an amicable solution to each case.
